Why the Petronas Twin Towers are special
The Petronas Twin Towers - 452 meters (1483 feet) high - are the world's tallest buildings.
The sight of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is made even more spectacular by a 58-meter (192-foot) twin-tier skybridge that connects the structures about halfway up, on the 41st and 42nd floors.

Petronas vs. Sears Building
Thanks to the height-increasing effect of the floorless pinnacles that top the 88-story Petronas Twin Towers, the two office towers won the tallest building title from America's 110-story Sears Building (which still holds the most-floors record).
The Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur are more visually dramatic than the Sears Building in Chicago. Not only do they have a more striking design, there are no other super-skyscrapers in their city competing for the visitor's eye.

Taller buildings are coming
The days of being the world's tallest building are numbered for the Petronas Twin Towers. Higher buildings are on the drawing boards in Shanghai, Jakarta and elsewhere.
